Spory fotbalových fanoušků o to, který tým je lepší, nebudou asi nikdy uspokojivě vyřešeny. Ale pokud vezmeme k ruce prostou matematiku a oprostíme se od emocí, pak je to celkem jednoduché.
Aktuálně nejsledovanější fotbalovou soutěží světa je anglická Premier League. Fanoušků Manchesteru United, Arsenalu, Liverpoolu nebo Chelsea jsou na planetě stamiliony a pokud by tihle lidé měli dostat odpověď na otázku, který anglický klub je historicky neúspěšnější, pak stačí spočítat trofeje, které dosud každý z nich vybojoval.
Do součtu zařazujeme všechny poháry, které je možné v Anglii vyhrát a k nim přidáváme i evropské trofeje. Není třeba nijak zdůrazňovat hodnotu jednotlivých pohárů. Je jasné, že trofej pro vítěze Ligy mistrů má jinou prestiž než pohár pro vítěze Community Shield, ale to by nám situaci neulehčilo.
